Senior Manager Resumes





A Senior Manager is the one who occupies a higher level in the management hierarchy with responsibilities of managing the organisation. Though it is a senior level of management but not included in the top level management. As a general understanding we can take that a designation form the Assistant General Manager to Senior General Manager in the Senior Category and The Director and above level of positions we can say as Top level management.

From junior level management to middle lever management positions requires the hard skill as the top most requirement as against the soft skills. We may just look what the difference between hard skill and soft skill in this context. The hard skill is the one which acquire and practices in his/her chosen field and the soft skill is the one which is utilised with the fellow humans i.e. the courtesy, motivation, crisis management or any one you can name which comes out as a result of one's the exposure in working as a team. The soft skills which get polished as you sincerely wishes. But the hard skill on the other hand gets improved as you involve more. So please understand the basic difference between polishing and improving i.e. by polishing one get more attractive and by improving one is becoming an expert only.

So a Senior Manager has to be in possession of an arresting personality and this arresting personality has to over take the expertise, because as a Senior Manager he has to extract the expertise from his junior and middle level mangers. The management science has got different names for this like motivation, management by objective likewise. So a Senior Manager is a team leader and the team leader has to get the best out of his junior and middle level colleagues and the resume of a Senior Manager has to reflect this trait.

Yes a resume any type will be having the traditional headings:

a) Name and communication details.
b) A heading
c) Educational background
d) Experience if any
e) Special mention if any.

If we, only has to fill the details under the headings, the resume will turn into a simple catalogue and it is going to get the consideration of a momentary reference and will kept aside for the next chance to come. Though the headings are needed for the resume we have to make it as a unique one because it is the uniqueness which is going to help an aspiring Senior Manager.

So let us examine how we can make the resume of a senior manager to stand out in the test of acceptance.

The first paragraph of name and other details have to be in clear terms on the top left corner of the first page. We will make sure these details to appear on top of each page of the resume, this is for the convenience of the HRD person who is going to critically evaluate your resume. Let us imagine a situation here that on the third page of the resume the evaluator finds an interesting point and he/she wants to contact you on that point itself and also at that moment, so instead of leafing to the first page of the resume the person can find your contact details at the third page itself and can dial your number. Sometimes this may be a crazy idea to imagine thinking that how much time it takes to go back to the first page, yes, true, but think that when we are making things easier for an important person of your life for that particular moment, so why not try this most polite thing?

The second paragraph of heading or we can say the objective is the only most single important aspect for a Senior Manager. Because it is needless to say that for the position of a senior manager one will get number of resumes each competing with different background and exposure. We have to make it really unique one. The prospective employer is keen to know how best talent he is going to have, so we are here to satisfy the urge of the prospective employer. Let us examine some of the OBJECTIVES to establish the point.

1) 10 YEARS OF EXPERINCE OF EFFECTIVE HR PROGRAMMES TO CONTRIBUTE THE OPERATION
2) 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN MARKETING OF INDUSTRIAL CAPITAL GOODS AND MANAGING THE CHANNEL PARTICIPANTS
3) 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS AND STRATEGIC PLANNING OF THE TOTAL MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS.
4) 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN PROCUREMENT AND VENDOR DEVELOPMENT.
5) EXPERIENCED IN INDUSTRIAL MARKETING AND COMMODITY TRADING TO EUROPIAN AND MIDDLE EAST.

These are some of the examples only and it differs from situation. We have to show the objectives in capital letters only, though we understand that writing in capital letters is showing arrogance, but I suggest, for your objective you have to be a bit arrogant, rather we are trying a polite arrogance.

The third paragraph, it should be the educational details. Yes, it is for a normal case. But here we are going to handle and make a case unique one. So we go straight for the fourth paragraph of experience and replace the education with experience. The prospective employer is keener on the working background rather than the student days. May be for a senior educationist the educational back ground is the priority, but here we are discussing an industry or a service sector assignment. For the resume of a senior educationist the methods have to be slightly different and that is not our subject now. So the experience has to be started from the latest assignment to the initial assignment in the descending order. Each experience has to be clearly mentioned with the period and the details of the organisation. It is clearly better if we can quantify the results and how we have achieved the same and also how it has positively attributed the success of the organisation.

Now for the fourth paragraph, we can give the details of our educational background. It will be nice to see an educational background from the secondary school level onwards, provided if we have a first class track record, by all means show it. But if we are having a medium level of track record still no problem, the employer will be happy to have your experience so just be happy to mention your latest qualification.

Yes we have reached the final part of any special mention. This is really helpful if the special point is having any bearing on your dream assignment.
