Students Resumes
It may sound surprising that how students, who are not yet out of school and yet to arrive at the world stage of taking up jobs, could need resumes. But it would be hardly surprising how necessary it is for a student to have his/her own resume when one considers how increasingly students are coping with multi-tasking and balancing studies with work, therefore needing resumes to present to prospective employers for occasional summer jobs, part-time jobs, internships etc.
Student Resume Format
- Name
- Fathers name
- DOB
- Contact details (postal address, phone number, etc)
Academic Qualification
So, first give a summary of your academic qualification in the ascending order. Mention the name of the institution you are a student of, and give your academic results. A sound academic record can tell your prospective employer that you have a record of performing well in your school work and induce him to hire you for your sense of dedication and application.

A sound academic record can tell your prospective employer that you have a record of performing well in your school work and induce him to hire you for your sense of dedication and application.
Extra-curricular Achievements:
List your hobbies and extra-curricular activities which show your wide range of interests besides just academic work. Make a mention of your participation in workshops and seminars organized or endorsed by the school. If you have attended any separate classes by other institutions to hone your skills in your fields of interest, then mention that too. It is always advisable to highlight in your resume that you are able to balance your studies and your areas of interests simultaneously. For example, if you are applying to work as a part-time teacher in your neighborhood kindergarten during the summer, along with your impressive academic record, an interest in co-curricular activities like quizzing, singing, drawing etc would be handy.
Responsibilities handled by you:
Another important aspect is that you must mention a brief description of the projects you have completed, be it a part of your regular school work or anything outside academics such as social awareness programs. This will highlight your ability to successfully handle and complete target-based work in a given timeframe.
Another important section of your resume can be a mention of any post of responsibility that you may have held in your school. Though this is not an obligatory section in student resumes, if you have such an exposure then make good use of it by emphasizing how you have carried your duties with diligence, dedication and honesty and how your contribution in such work has been appreciated.
Lastly, mention if you have any previous work related experience along with the name of your employers (who can furnish references, experience certificates, etc). However, if you are a fresher, dont lose heart and highlight your range of soft skills, following it with a declaration that you would work hard and honestly to satisfy your employer if you are given a chance.
